Memorial Day commemorates all workers who have lost their lives at work or suffer from illness and injury through work related causes. This past year, according to the Health and Safety Executive:
1.1 million workers suffered from work related illness.
173 workers were killed at work
212,000 over three day absence injuries

27 million working days were lost due to work-related illness and workplace injury
